I have used TINZ many times and never made a claim, I was totally impressed with their service. My claim was settled in two days.

I broke a tooth while on a trip covered by Southern Cross Travel Insurance (SCTI). Due to my travel schedule I was unable to have a crown fitted and installed during my trip and my dentist in Auckland did this immediately on my return. Unfortunately, my claim was denied due to the SCTI provision that “We will not pay for any claims… associated with: b) medical or dental treatment incurred in New Zealand.” I appealed this decision saying that the event that made the treatment necessary happened while I was in SCTI coverage and my decision to defer treatment until I returned home was necessary and justified under the circumstances. I was very pleased when a Disputes Resolution Officer acknowledged the original decision was the correct one, but she made an exception for me and the claim has been paid out. I give the SCTI claims process 10 out of 10 for fairness and compassion.

Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Will gladly use 1 Cover Travel Insurance again

I have used 1Cover Travel Insurance a few times over the last couple of years or so. I have found setting up the policy easy and the premiums are very reasonable. Would recommend them and have done on several occcasions.

Taking out a policy is simple, fast and efficient. Unfortunately, due to unexpected health issues, we had to cancel and the claims process has far exceeded my expectations.

Prompt email replies to all my questions. Well priced policy. Luckily we didnt have to claim but that is the mark of a good company, how they respond when needed

It would be beneficial if 1Cover advised customers to retain their boarding passes for the start and end of their journey in order to prove that they departed and returned on the dates covered by the insurance.

Whilst we were overseas we were fortunate not to have to use our insurance, but we were able to travel throughout Europe with peace of mind that if something untoward occurred we had medical and travel cover.

Everything was great online, quick and easy, price and conditions were fine. But... on sending me a confirmation email for our trip to Thailand, the email had a backing picture of some people sitting on an elephant trekking through a river. Elephants are terribly ill treated to get to the point of carrying people on their back (among other things, they are treated cruelly to get to this point, it is bad for their back and they get terrible sores from the 'seat'). I sent an email explaining this to Zoom and asked them to replace the photo with something else Thai (temples, Thai boats on a canal etc). Any steps to discourage people from riding elephants is a positive step. To Zoom's credit, they have now changed the photo. Well done Zoom, great service and a good corporate citizen. Please folks, go see elephants in a proper sanctuary, where they are free to roam and are properly treated

Insurance applications are not easy and when you do not provide the option of going back to a previous page, forcing the applicant to start over again it makes for some frustration. It would be good if you had a feature where you could review what you said on previous applications.

Both children got sick overseas and we put a claim in immediately. So easy, no fuss and up to date alerts every step of the way. Claim was processed and paid into our account under 7 days ! We will 100% be using you again. When we travel.

Kept getting asked for documents I had already uploaded and sent.Also, had to make the calls to Australia at my cost. Claims Advisor said he tried to ring me a few times but there was only 1 missed call on my phone. Once we talked everything was sorted out smoothly.So great outcome but a little sloppy along the way
