How many people can I include in my policy?

You can purchase a policy online for up to 10 adults.

Am I covered if I go on a cruise?

Yes, you don’t even need to pick a cruise specific policy. Here’s a top tip: Even if you’re travelling in Kiwi waters you still need to pick pacific, not New Zealand as your destination.

Am I covered for skiing and my equipment?

You're covered for $1,000,000 emergency rescue with their premier policy.

Are kids covered for free?

Yes, that’s right, kids will be covered at no added cost! Dependent children and grandchildren are included for free as long as they are under 21 years of age and not in full time employment.

Can I pay to reduce or cancel my excess?

Call NZTI to enquire about excess removal.

What additional extras are there?

Replacement cover on baggage items less than two years old and rental vehicle excess.

Am I covered if my tour company collapses?

NZTI doesn’t provide protection from insolvency.

I’m not an New Zeland resident- can I buy cover?

No cover only available to New Zealand residents.

What size moped or motorbike am I covered to ride overseas?

NZTI will cover you for any engine size you ride as long as you’re insured to do so in New Zealand. Just make sure you get your International Drivers Permit (IDP) before you leave!

How long is their single trip cover for?

12 months.

Can I extend my policy from overseas?

Having too much fun? No problems! You can extend your policy with NZTI for up to 6 months.

Do they cover for my rental vehicle excess?

Yep, you're covered up to $6,000 for reimbursement of the Rental Vehicle insurance Excess or the cost of repairing the vehicle, whichever is the lesser, if a vehicle you have rented from a rental company is involved in an accident while you are driving, or is damaged or stolen while in your custody. Cover excludes sedans, hatchbacks, station-wagon, four wheel drives, mini bus or any vehicle over 4.5 tonnes.

Do they offer pregnancy cover?

Expectant mums are covered up until 23 weeks.

This insurance is issued and managed by Allianz Global Assistance New Zealand Limited Company No.1537730 and underwritten by Allianz Australia Insurance Limited ABN 15 000 122 850 (Incorporated in Australia) trading as Allianz New Zealand.
