We insured our holiday to Vanuatu but when the airline went bankrupt we found out that the AA travel insurance doesn't insure travel. This fact was buried on page 16 of their terms and conditions.

My dad died the night before I was to travel. As part of my claim (for $1000) they expected me to ask dad's Dr to fill out a 3 page form AND give them all dad's medical records. I will not have strangers snooping through my dad's private health records when he is no longer here to give consent :-(

I might as well have not bought insurance and saved some cash. They don't pay out. Read the fine print and then look elsewhere.

I needed to get some slightly complicated insurance. I got her to double check and she promised me everything would be ok. At the end I asked to get it in writing, at which point she very reluctantly triple checked. At this point, it turns out I wouldn't have been covered. They were willing to sell me something on dodgy advise and I never would have been covered. Its only because I pushed for confirmation that I found their mistake. Never going to deal with them again.

I paid for my insurance. I supplied all documentation required. One month later I received an email saying they required more information (that I already provided). Provided information again. No contact.

This is a small claim for a lost phone and I cannot believe how difficult they are making it. It is not worth the hassle. Unsure your travel with another company.

As seniors dealing with a claim we cannot express our disappointment enough when dealing with Allianz,we were sold the fully comprehensive Policy in an AA office but when something goes wrong it's a nightmare. No compassion for our serious accident abroad, hard online stuff to deal with, so many different people, they changed our claim numbers for no reason which delayed even further...we now face dealing with the ombudsman, and look at ' Fair Go' to let people know this is not the AA you will deal with...we paid top dollar for comprehensive insurance thinking we were well covered..don't expect it easy if you have a claim

Took out insurance cover for four month trip to UK and Europe in 2022. Husband had to spend three nights in hospital in Germany. Company regularly contacted me to see I was all right and that my husband was getting appropriate treatment. Placed a claim when we returned, in September. This was done directly with Allianz. Sometime later, was asked to submit further documentation. Asked what they wanted - was everything I had already sent. After many phone calls and emails and a threat re legal action from the hospital were told the money would be paid early December. More phone calls, finally paid in mid January. The staff I talked to were very polite and some as frustrated as I was, but impossible to talk to anyone in management. Lots of excuses re Covid and lack of staff, but they say claims will be settled in ten days! I rang AA at one stage to inform them of the poor service and was told a supervisor would ring back. They never have! Would never recommend.

My claim is only 2000$ and my premium with excess is close to 1000$ , ridiculously small claim - yet the claims process was an absolute nightmare. I provided evefry single thing they wanted, then they ask you for additional Documentation and then when you provide it, you wait 20 days and then they ask for more doc which was never asked before and irrelevant just to stall the claim. I am have been waiting almost 3 months for my lousy 2000$ payout, still nothing!

We lodged a claim as we had to move our travel to another date after finding out our mother/mother in law was diagnosed as terminal ("had weeks to live). Also the place we were going to had severe storms so we thought it was best to defer the travel. AA (underwriters are Allianz) declined the claim citing a pre-existing medical condition. As a family we didn't know about any pre-existing medical conditions and the diagnosis was the first time we knew about it. Will never use this company again for travel insurance.

I had a comprehensive policy (no excess)with AA Travel (which by thew way is Allianz so don;'t think it actually has anything to do with AA) I spent two months trying to claim and only ever received a partial payment. Their reasons for denying payment on the remainder made no sense whatsoever but they would not engage in further explanation. It was impossible to actually speak to anyone. Stay away from this company.
For a traveller over 70, the premium was very reasonable and I was not charged extra for my minor existing condition. I had 2 claims whilst travelling overseas. The 2nd claim I didn't expect payment as it was an after thought and I didn't have a lot of the receipts. However it was paid within a few days. The 1st claim was for cancelled fully paid accommodation where the hotel did not refund me. I was paid in 3 days. When I travel again, I will use AA Travel.
