World Nomads is ideal for adventure travellers heading abroad, with hundreds of activities automatically covered as standard rather than needing to be added on, plus cover for casual work like bartending, farm work or activity guiding if you’re on a working holiday. A nice touch is the free “home visit” feature, letting you return home once during your trip and pick back up where you left off without your policy lapsing. But because of all these great features, premiums can run higher than more budget-focused competitors, so it’s worth shopping around if price is your main priority.
Plane to London was delayed in Italy due to fog, which meant I missed my connecting flight back to NZ. To top it off the airline lost my luggage and it ended up in Hong Kong somehow. I had to re-book expensive flights, hotels, buy clothes etc. Unfortunately World Nomads were extremely painful to deal with when I tried to lodge a claim. They asked for proof of the fog in the Italian town i flew out of, which was literally impossible to provide. It was all a joke, they made it so difficult, and I couldn't claim a thing. Never ever again.
