How many people can I include in my policy?

The more the merrier right? Zoom's insures groups of up to 25. That means more fun for less hassle.

Am I covered if I go on a cruise?

No, not automatically. You must purchase their cruise pack in order to be covered for any medical treatment you receive on board and for helicopter evacuation should you require emergency medical assistance.

Am I covered for skiing and my equipment?

In order to be covered for winter sports including skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing or tubing (on groomed ski slopes) you must purchase Zoom’s Snow pack cover. Snow pack cover provides cover for overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses, cover for piste closure, bad weather and avalanche, and for loss or damage to your own snow sport equipment. You will also be covered for the value of any unused ski pass, ski hire or tuition fees following loss or theft of your ski pass, or you being unable to ski following accident or illness.

Are kids covered for free?

Yes, that’s right, kids will be covered at no added cost! Dependent children and grandchildren are included for free as long as they are under 21 years of age and not in full time employment.

Can I pay to reduce or cancel my excess?

Yes you can reduce the standard excess of $200 by paying a $100 excess reduction fee.

What additional extras are there?

Whether you intend to hit the golf course, or ride worry free on a cycling break, or head on a winter escape, Zoom has a wide range of additional extras available to purchase.

Am I covered if my tour company collapses?

Zoom will not pay for any expenses due to the financial collapse of any transport, tour or accommodation provider.

I'm not a New Zealand resident- can I buy cover?

Zoom doesn’t cover Non-Residents visiting New Zealand. However, we will cover temporary residents of NZ temporarily travelling overseas and who, at the date the certificate of insurance is issued: -are aged 74 years and under; and -hold a return ticket to New Zealand; and -have a home in New Zealand to which they intend to return; and -hold a current visa which will remain valid beyond the period of their journey; and -have private health insurance for the entire journey and beyond.

What size moped or motorbike am I covered to ride overseas?

Zoom will cover you for any engine size you ride as long as you’re insured to do so in New Zealand. Just make sure you get your International Drivers Permit (IDP) before you leave! If you do not have a motorbike license then you are only insured to ride a moped or bike up to 50cc.

How long is their single trip cover for?

12 months.

Can I extend my policy from overseas?

Having too much fun? No problems! You can extend your policy with Zoom as long as your original policy has not expired.

Do they cover for my rental vehicle excess?

Yes Zoom will reimburse you for up to $5,000 or $8,000 for any excess or deductible which you become legally liable to pay under your rental vehicle hiring agreement. Note that you may only add or upgrade vehicle excess prior to picking up the car.

Who underwrites them?

Zoom travel insurance policies are underwritten by certain underwriters at Lloyd's
