Zoom Travel Insurance is one of the best value options in the New Zealand market. Their premiums consistently sit below the industry average while offering solid comprehensive coverage. Ideal for budget-conscious travellers under 50 heading to Australia, Asia or Europe. Claims turnaround can be slower than premium competitors like Cover-More, and phone support hours are limited. But if value is your primary concern and you are comfortable with digital self-service, Zoom is hard to beat.

Overall Awesome Travel Insurance

This insurance is great value for money and very comprehensive. Unfortunately, I needed medical assistance during my travel to Indonesia and I ended up spending over $1,000 in medical expenses. I submitted a claim to Zoho via the online platform. The process was very easy. The team was very quick in getting in contact with me, assessing my claim and issuing a refund of the money spent.<br/>I am very happy with my Zoho travel insurance and with the customer service they provide. I will surely use Zoho again on my next travels overseas and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great comprehensive insurance that does not cost an arm and a leg and offers great customer service. Piece of Mind

We were unfortunate to have travel disruption but were fortunate to have travel insurance with Zoom Travel Insurance which took care of all our needs. Excellent communication and help

When I asked if I could postpone my travel insurance because of Covid-19 they gave me a credit voucher for the full amount to be used within the next 18 months. Great service and no mucking around. Thank you Zoom.

Sadly our family trip to Europe has been cancelled. Thankfully Zoom Travel Insurance have been able to provide a voucher so that we can rebook our travel insurance once our new dates have been confirmed.

Great service

I chose Zoom as I had very specific requirements for a trip to Africa, by far the best value for money compared to other quotes. I had to cancel due to COVID and was given a credit voucher instead at my request which was great for my circumstances. All email correspondence was very timely and understanding. Looking forward to using Zoom again.

Frequently asked questions

How many people can I include in my policy?

The more the merrier right? Zoom's insures groups of up to 25. That means more fun for less hassle.

Am I covered if I go on a cruise?

No, not automatically. You must purchase their cruise pack in order to be covered for any medical treatment you receive on board and for helicopter evacuation should you require emergency medical assistance.

Am I covered for skiing and my equipment?

To be covered for winter sports, including skiing and snowboarding, you must purchase Zoom's Winter Sports Pack. This pack provides coverage for overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses, as well as reimbursement for the unused portion of your lift passes, ski hire, ski passes, ski school, or tuition fees, if you're unable to use them due to injury or illness. Zoom will also cover up to $1,500 for skiing equipment.

Can I pay to reduce or cancel my excess?

Yes, you can pay an additional premium when you purchase your policy to reduce the standard excess from $200 to $100.

What additional extras are there?

Zoom has a wide range of additional extras available to purchase, including their Adventure & Sports Pack, Bicycle Pack, Cruise Pack, Winter Sports Pack, cover for High-Value Items and Rental Vehicle Excess cover.

Am I covered if my tour company collapses?

Zoom will not pay for any expenses due to the financial collapse of any transport, tour or accommodation provider.

I'm not a New Zealand resident- can I buy cover?

You may be able to buy a policy if you are not a New Zealand resident. Make sure you read the Policy Wording to check their eligibility criteria.

What size moped or motorbike am I covered to ride overseas?

Zoom provides coverage for riding a moped or scooter with an engine displacement of 125cc or less, provided you hold a current and valid driver’s licence in New Zealand. If you plan to ride a motorcycle with an engine displacement greater than 125cc, you must have a valid motorcycle licence in New Zealand for the specific class of motorcycle you are using.

How long is their single trip cover for?

12 months.

Can I extend my policy from overseas?

Having too much fun? No problems! You can extend your policy with Zoom as long as your original policy has not expired.

Do they cover for my rental vehicle excess?

Yes, up to $5,000 under domestic policies. For international coverage, you must purchase the Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess Pack. This coverage applies to a variety of vehicles, including a campervan, car (4WD, coupe, convertible, hatchback, sedan, SUV, utility, van), minibus, motorhome or people mover that is equal to or less than 4.5 tonnes.
