We were so disappointed when we had to cancel our much looked forward to holiday due to medical reasons. I took out travel insurance for a trip to USA. When my plans had to change at short notice, due to the serious illness of my mother in the USA, I was told that none of the additional charges for changing my travel would be covered because my mother didn't reside in NZ. Pointless, really.

The start of the claim process is the worst bit. I was in hospital and the doctor said I needed this operation. I got 1Cover on the phone and they went through the process, but they tell you they are going to get your medical records from your GP and let you know. That's when you hit panic mode! Thinking did I tell them everything, did I miss something, what if they don't approve this, what will i do. Quite stressful actually. Fortunately they got on to it quickly and had my approval in a short time, from there on everything went very smoothly and I was extremely relieved to have 1Cover! I will certainly use them next time.

I always use TINZ for our travel insurance, you get more cover than a lot of other policies and it usually costs less too.

I had amazing support and help overseas following an injury accident but person i dealt with when i returned to NZ was unhelpful and left me feeling it was all about getting me back home ASAP to stop them having to pay for treatment rather than getting best and quickest treatment results overseas for me. A bit sad really after all the good work done by others in their team.

Within the same day of making the claims, the claims were settled. The assessment was very fair and without any followup required. Our word was accepted without question. This experience served as a reminder that keeping records of ownership of personal property is very important.
