How many people can I include in my policy?

On their website you can only buy a policy for 2 adults, and children go free.

Am I covered if I go on a cruise?

Yes, you don’t even need to pick a cruise specific policy. Here’s a top tip: Even if you’re travelling in Kiwi waters you still need to pick Pacific for destination.

Am I covered for skiing and my equipment?

Yes if you purchase their snow sports activity option. This policy will cover for $1,500 worth of skiing equipment, $1,000 piste closure and $1,500 skiing pre-paid costs.

Can I pay to reduce or cancel my excess?

Yes if you pay a buy-out option to decrease your excess to nil.

Am I covered if my tour company collapses?

Travel Insurance Direct doesn’t provide protection from losses arising from the failure of an travel agent, tour operator, accommodation provider, airline or other carrier, car rental agency or any other travel and tourism service provider.

I’m not an New Zealand resident- can I buy cover?

Yes, you can buy a policy if you hold a current and valid visa.

What size moped or motorbike am I covered to ride overseas?

TID will cover you for any engine size you ride as long as you’re insured to do so in New Zealand and the country you are riding in. And you must be wearing a helmet.

Can I extend my policy from overseas?

Sure can, up to 12 months.

Do they cover for my rental vehicle excess?

Yes, they will cover up to $4,000 if you are required to pay for accidental damage, malicious damage, loss or theft of a vehicle you have rented from a licensed rental agency and whilst you are the driver.
