How many people can I include in my policy?
You can purchase a policy online for up to 8 adults.
Am I covered if I go on a cruise?
Yes, you don’t even need to pick a cruise specific policy. Here’s a top tip: Even if you’re travelling in Kiwi waters you still need to pick pacific, not New Zealand as your destination.
Am I covered for skiing and my equipment?
You are covered medically for any accidents or injury that occur when you are skiing, however there is no cover for ski equipment.
Can I pay to reduce or cancel my excess?
Yes choose between nil, $100, or $250. The more excess you choose to pay, the less your premiums will be.
What additional extras are there?
Increase luggage limits or rental vehicle excess.
Am I covered if my tour company collapses?
Yes their comprehensive policies covers for $10,000 travel insurance provider insolvency or collapse.
I’m not an New Zealand resident- can I buy cover?
No, cover is only available to New Zealand residents.
What size moped or motorbike am I covered to ride overseas?
STA will cover you for any engine size you ride as long as you’re insured to do so in New Zealand. Just make sure you get your International Drivers Permit (IDP) before you leave!
How long is their single trip cover for?
12 months.
Can I extend my policy from overseas?
Having too much fun? You can extend your policy with STA up to 12 months.
Do they cover for my rental vehicle excess?
Yep, optional cover for reimbursement of the rental vehicle insurance Excess or the cost of repairing the vehicle, whichever is the lesser, if a vehicle you have rented from a rental company is involved in an accident while you are driving, or is damaged or stolen while in your custody. Cover excludes sedans, hatchbacks, station-wagon, four wheel drives, mini bus or any vehicle over 4.5 tonnes.
Do they offer pregnancy cover?
Expectant mums are covered up until 23 weeks.
