I had the pleasure of dealing with a certain customer consultant throughout the entire duration of my claim and the process was so smooth and easy! They really helped out a great deal and made everything easy to understand. Thank you for everything! I would definitely recommend 1cover to any friends travelling overseas!

As soon as I said our 33 year old son had Down Syndrome he seemed to go into another category. I said that at an early checkups they said he had an odd shaped heart valve that heaps of people will have but don't now about. Bad move as then the list of questions like does he go blue round mouth, fingers, does get dizzy, the one that took the cake was has he grown at the normal rate. I kept saying "no, no, no, he's a weight lifter, never been on medication, never goes to the doctor. Come on if he had a heart problem he would be on medication and not lifting 135kg weights three days a week in the gym. Down Syndrome is not a disease and should be treated like everyone else.

I'm very sorry to hear that you feel that way. We agree with you 100% - Down Syndrome is not a disease and should be treated like everyone else. As a result, we do not class Down Syndrome as a pre-existing condition. The only time Down Syndrome is ever considered is if it compounded other pre-existing conditions, like heart problems. If there are no heart conditions, then there is no risk scoring or additional premium for for Down Syndrome. I hope this clarifies things a little?

The heart related questions asked are prepared by a team of Doctors based on their risk assessment. I appreciate they may appear a little extreme, but by asking more detailed questions we can differentiate between low and high-risk heart cases. In your case, the questions allowed us to determine it was low risk, and so we were able to reduce the cost to the absolute minimum.

very affordable travel insurance while on holiday. I would recommend this company to friends and family. I will definitely use them again next time I go overseas.

Making claim i was given wrong information to start with which meant many phone calls to sort out what was required.

Its going to cost me an extra $800 to replace the glasses i lost and now cant afford them .. Glasses shouldn't depreciate as the prescription was current and they were in perfect condition .. Wont use 1cover again or recommend

I’m sorry to hear that you’re not happy with the outcome of your claim. While I can appreciate why you’re disappointed in the outcome of your claim, let me explain why we (like all other insurers) use depreciation to measure the current value of the item in question. The final payment amount will also take into account the level of excess you chose when purchasing your policy.
We use international insurance standards to determine depreciation. Depreciation will apply each year starting from the time of purchase until the date of loss. Different rates of depreciation will apply depending on the type of item, age of the item, and the asset life of the item as the ATO defines. Of course, we consider all claims on a case-by-case basis, and our aim is to work towards a solution. If you’re unhappy with the outcome of your claim, you can choose to have the original decision reviewed by emailing your policy details to me at info@1cover.com.au.

But have not required to make a claim. Would we have the same experience should we need to make a claim?

The whole process Got dragged out they didnt really want to pay out ( whats the point of even having insurance if theyre not going to pay) and we didn't even get much of a refund for the money we lost

Called the US/Canada toll free emergency assistance number from Canada twice and the phone went dead after 1 ring. Asked the hotel operator to do that and the same happened. Sent email to emergency email address (help@1cover.co.nz, and the reply came 3 days later. Lucky mine wasn't a medical emergency. Will never buy from them again.

I have had a number of claims over the two years that I have had a policy with them. They always have answered my queries with professionalism, always stayed in contact and are always fair. I would love to renew but the excess has increased due to me being away over 2 years. I would highly recommend to everyone. I am a constant traveller with two children. Thanks 1cover for 2 years of fantastic service!!
