How many people can I include in my policy?
Single, duo or family policies are available to purchase online.
Am I covered if I go on a cruise?
Yes, you don’t even need to pick a cruise specific policy. Here’s a top tip: Even if you’re travelling in Kiwi waters you still need to pick pacific, not New Zealand as your destination.
Am I covered for skiing and my equipment?
Yes if you purchase snow cover you will be insured for unlimited emergency rescue, $1,500 worth of ski hire equipment, $1,500 own ski equipment, $1,000 piste closure and $750 avalanche closure.
Can I pay to reduce or cancel my excess?
Yes if you pay an additional premium when you purchase your policy.
What additional extras are there?
More cover for your expensive items, removal of excess, snow sports cover, rental vehicle excess, business cover and more!
Am I covered if my tour company collapses?
DUInsure doesn’t provide protection from insolvency.
I’m not an New Zealand resident- can I buy cover?
Sure! Just make sure you purchase their inbound or outbound non residents cover.
What size moped or motorbike am I covered to ride overseas?
Downunder will cover you for any engine size you ride as long as you’re insured to do so in New Zealand. Just make sure you get your International Drivers Permit (IDP) before you leave!
How long is their single trip cover for?
12 months.
Can I extend my policy from overseas?
Having too much fun? No problems! You can extend your policy with DUinsure for up to a year.
Do they cover for my rental vehicle excess?
Yep, you're covered up to $3,000 for reimbursement of the Rental Vehicle insurance Excess or the cost of repairing the vehicle, whichever is the lesser, if a vehicle you have rented from a rental company is involved in an accident while you are driving, or is damaged or stolen while in your custody. Cover excludes sedans, hatchbacks, station-wagon, four wheel drives, mini bus or any vehicle over 4.5 tonnes.
